Block Anal Glands

From: Liz with dog Chloe
Breed: Jack Russell

Pet Symptoms:

Chloe has cushions disease and is receiving treatment with vetoryl tablets. She seems to be coping pretty well. We have been away for 2 weeks and now back, notice that all of a sudden will start to scratch herself, vigorously. Have examined her skin and can find nothing. If you touch her rear, she

immediately scratches. It does not appear to be the ’normal’ reflex scratching and I was wondering if it could be connected with her ’condition’. I have, this morning, given her a bath, using malaseb, which I happen to have, to see if it might help. Have you any suggestions? Thank you.

Tried:

I have, this morning, given her a bath, using malaseb, which I happen to have, to see if it might help. I, somehow, don’t think that that is the problem.

Our Advice:

Thank you for contacting Wellpets

If she have sensitive bottom she may have blocked anal glands. I would advise you to contact your vet for an appointment and they will check Chloe over.
